Congratulations! You have successfully deployed your first application on Kubernetes and learned how to create Deployments, Services, and connect them to a database. You also learned how to scale your application and expose it to the outside world.
You learned lots of fundamental things which will help you on your Kubernetes Journey. In the next lab, you will dive deeper in it and we’ll explore how to make our Deployment more production-ready by covering the following topics:
- Managing configuration with ConfigMaps and Secrets
- Persistent Storage (Currently, our MariaDB is volatile)
- Using Ingress Controllers (As mentioned, Node Ports are not really the method of choice to expose Services)
- Resource requests and limits
- Use readiness and liveness probes to detect if our app works
- Use Kubernetes recommended labels to add some more metadata to our app
As you see, there's much more to learn!
